How BitcoinDatabase, the fully indexed Bitcoin blockchain queryable by REST API, SQL and dashboards, collects, uses and protects your information. Last updated: June 2026.

The short version

BitcoinDatabase indexes the public Bitcoin blockchain and lets you query it. We collect the email and account details you give us, the queries you run, and basic analytics and log data, so we can run the product and improve it. The on-chain data we serve is public ledger data, open to anyone running a node. We never sell your data, and we do not train third-party models on the queries you run.

What this policy covers

This policy explains what we collect when you visit bitcoindatabase.com, create an account, run queries against our REST API, SQL or dashboards, or contact us. It covers the BitcoinDatabase website and product. BitcoinDatabase serves informational on-chain data and analytics only.

On-chain data is public ledger data

The Bitcoin data we index, including balances, UTXOs, transactions, addresses, entity labels, fund flows and on-chain metrics, is parsed from public Bitcoin nodes and reconciled block by block since the 2009 genesis block. It is public ledger data that anyone running a node could compute. We do not buy private datasets or attach real-world identities to addresses. When you query this data you are querying the public blockchain, with structure and an API added on top.

The queries you run

We process the queries you send so we can return results to you and so the service can run, scale and stay reliable. We use them only to provide and improve the service. We do not sell them, we do not share them for anyone else's marketing, and we do not use your queries to train public or third-party models.

Information we collect

  • Account information. The email address you provide when you sign up so we can set up your account, and any optional details you choose to share, such as your name, company and what you are building. We use a short verification code to confirm your email.
  • Queries and usage. The API calls, SQL and dashboard queries you run, so the service can run, meter usage and let you return to your work.
  • Messages you send us. If you use the contact form, we keep your name, email and message so we can respond.
  • Analytics data. Aggregate usage information about how the site and product are used, via cookies and analytics, so we can understand which features are helpful and improve the experience.
  • Technical and log data. Standard information such as IP address, browser type, and the page or campaign you arrived from, used for security, fraud prevention and understanding traffic sources.

How we use your information

  • To run the service, including answering your REST, SQL and dashboard queries against the indexed blockchain.
  • To set up your account, verify your email address and respond to your questions.
  • To send you relevant product updates about BitcoinDatabase, where you have asked to hear from us.
  • To understand, in aggregate, how the product is used so we can improve it.
  • To protect the service from abuse, fraud and security threats, and to handle billing for your paid plan.

Compliance and the data we serve

BitcoinDatabase provides informational on-chain data and analytics only, not financial, investment or legal advice. Our AML and forensics features are compliance tooling that surface risk signals and labels to support a regulated team's own review. See our compliance page for the full policy.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers who help us operate the product, such as our hosting, payment and email delivery providers, and only to the extent they need it to perform their function. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and our users.

Data retention

We keep account details and usage data for as long as an account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to meet legal, billing and security obligations. You can ask us to delete the account information you have submitted at any time, and we will do so unless we are required to retain it.

Security

We design to minimize the data we collect, limit access to it, and protect the data you trust us with. We use strong encryption in transit and at rest and least-privilege access. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and to collect as little of it as possible in the first place. We do not claim any certification or status we do not hold.

Your choices and rights

You can access, correct or delete the account information you have submitted, and you can opt out of non-essential email at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over personal data. To exercise any of these, email us and we will help.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product and site evolve. When we make material changes we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
