GoldRush is a broad multichain REST API where Bitcoin is one of 100 plus networks, while BitcoinDatabase is a Bitcoin-only index with UTXO lists, xpub scans, mempool, broadcast, webhooks, hourly price candles and SQL over exact satoshi values on published monthly plans.

Why teams pick BitcoinDatabase

The fully indexed Bitcoin blockchain, queryable by REST, SQL and dashboards

What GoldRush offers for Bitcoin

We read the GoldRush Bitcoin chain page and endpoint references on 6 October 2026. Three foundational endpoints accept Bitcoin. GET /v1/btc-mainnet/address/{address}/balances_v2/ returns the balance of a single, non-HD address for 1 credit, with an optional quote currency and no block height parameter. GET /v1/btc-mainnet/address/{key}/hd_wallets/ takes an xpub, ypub or zpub and returns each derived child address with its path, balance and 24 hour balance, at 0.1 credit per item. GET /v1/cq/covalent/app/bitcoin/transactions/ returns inputs and outputs for one non-HD address with block height, value in satoshis, USD quote, fee, weight and locktime, 100 items per page by default, at 0.1 credit per item. A keyless request to the balance route answered HTTP 401 from nginx in 0.18 to 0.35 seconds, so you need a key from the first call.

GoldRush pricing compared with ours

GoldRush sells a 14 day trial with 25,000 credits at 4 requests per second, Vibe Coding at $10 a month with 10,000 credits and $0.00077 per extra credit, Professional at $250 a month with 300,000 credits at 50 requests per second, and a custom Inner Circle tier. For light Bitcoin use that is cheap: 10,000 transactions of address history cost about 1,000 GoldRush credits. On BitcoinDatabase the same history costs 400 credits, because one credit buys a page of 25, and Developer at $49 includes 500,000 credits. Above a few hundred thousand calls a month the published BitcoinDatabase plans cost less per call, and none of them meter by item.

Where GoldRush is the better buy

Pick GoldRush if Bitcoin is one asset in a multichain wallet or portfolio app. A single schema for EVM tokens, Solana and a Bitcoin balance, with USD quotes attached, saves real engineering time, and the $10 tier is hard to beat for a side project. Pick BitcoinDatabase if your product lives or dies on Bitcoin detail: the unspent outputs a withdrawal will spend, a balance stated at a period-end block for an auditor, a webhook the moment a deposit address is paid, a signed transaction broadcast, or a SQL query across thousands of addresses. Those are the calls GoldRush does not list for Bitcoin, and they are the calls exchanges, custodians and audit teams make every day.

Good questions

GoldRush vs BitcoinDatabase, answered

GoldRush lists a 14 day free trial with 25,000 credits, Vibe Coding at $10 a month with 10,000 credits, Professional at $250 a month with 300,000 credits and 50 requests per second, and custom Inner Circle pricing, as read on 6 October 2026. BitcoinDatabase plans start at $49 a month with 500,000 credits.
Yes. GoldRush is the current name of the data API that Covalent built and sold as the Covalent API. Requests still go to api.covalenthq.com and the docs, keys and pricing live on goldrush.dev.
Yes, through three endpoints: the balance of a single non-HD address, balances for an xpub, ypub or zpub key, and the transaction history of a non-HD address. We found no Bitcoin UTXO list, mempool, broadcast or block height parameter in the documented list on 6 October 2026.
The single address balance costs 1 credit per call. The HD wallet balance and the address transaction history cost 0.1 credit per item returned, and an empty 200 response still costs 0.1. So 10,000 Bitcoin transactions cost about 1,000 credits, or one tenth of the Vibe Coding allowance.
For a multichain wallet, Bitquery or Tatum cover similar ground. For Bitcoin node access, QuickNode or GetBlock. For Bitcoin-only data with UTXOs, xpub scans, webhooks, broadcast, price candles and SQL on one published plan, BitcoinDatabase is the closer fit.
Not from the GoldRush Bitcoin balance endpoint, which has no block height parameter. On BitcoinDatabase, a SQL query from the Growth plan at $199 a month sums the outputs paid to an address at or before a block and not spent by then, so you can state a balance at a period-end block.
Yes. Its HD wallet endpoint accepts xpub, ypub and zpub keys and returns each derived address with its path and balance. BitcoinDatabase also scans xpub, ypub and zpub in one 10 credit call, returns a total, and lets you set the gap limit up to 50.
Yes, a 14 day trial with 25,000 API credits at 4 requests per second. BitcoinDatabase has a one-time demo in the query console on this page, and paid plans start the same day by card with no sales call.
No. BitcoinDatabase provides informational on-chain data and analytics only. It is not investment, financial or legal advice. GoldRush facts on this page were read from goldrush.dev on 6 October 2026 and may change. GoldRush and Covalent are trademarks of their owners.
