Why teams pick BitcoinDatabase

The fully indexed Bitcoin blockchain, queryable by REST, SQL and dashboards

What happened to Flipside

On 19 May 2026 Flipside announced that it had sold its blockchain data business to SonarX and would put everything into edisyl, an enterprise AI knowledge platform. The announcement says SonarX assumed full responsibility for Flipside customer contracts and renewal rights, that no IP changed hands, and that terms were not disclosed. SonarX described the deal as bringing 7 trillion rows of curated data, 700 million resolved wallet identities and the Flipside customer roster onto its platform. On 2 October 2026 we requested flipsidecrypto.xyz, its blockchain-data page, its Flipspace page and docs.flipsidecrypto.xyz: all four returned edisyl.com. A request to api.flipsidecrypto.com returned a Cloudflare 403 block page. The community side of Flipside, the free studio and dashboards analysts used to write Bitcoin SQL, is no longer reachable at its old address.

Where your Bitcoin queries can go

If you had an enterprise contract, SonarX now holds it, so start there; continuity of service was the stated point of the deal. If you used Flipside SQL for Bitcoin analysis without a contract, you need a new home for the queries. Three honest options. SonarX itself, if you want Snowflake shares across many chains and can run an enterprise procurement. Google BigQuery, whose public Bitcoin dataset is free to query within its monthly allowance, if a warehouse table is enough and you can model balances yourself. Or BitcoinDatabase, if Bitcoin is the whole job: REST for balances, UTXOs and transactions at the chain tip, SQL from the Growth plan for questions that span many addresses, and the same tables you would have joined in Flipside, outputs, inputs, transactions and blocks, plus hourly price candles.

We checked the Bitcoin details

The SonarX Bitcoin chain page lists Instant Data Shares into Snowflake and file dumps to object storage as available today, Kafka streaming as available today, and point-in-time Bitcoin balance tables and REST as enabled on request. Its API reference, read on 2 October 2026, describes REST endpoints for wallet balances and token holdings across 21 EVM chains and Solana, with no Bitcoin endpoint documented. Its pricing URL returned a 404 that day. None of that is a criticism of the product, which is built for institutions buying through a contract. It does mean a small Bitcoin team that used to open Flipside and write a query in five minutes now has a procurement step in front of it. On BitcoinDatabase the plan cards are public and a card checkout gives you a key the same day.

Where SonarX is the better buy

If you need dozens of chains in one schema inside your own Snowflake account, a SOC 2 Type II report for your vendor review, Kafka streams, and the curated Flipside labels and protocol tables, SonarX is the stronger product, and as the new owner of the Flipside contracts it is the natural continuation. We do not offer other chains, decoded EVM events or a SOC report. BitcoinDatabase fits when Bitcoin is the business and the output is a number someone will check: a balance at a named block for P2WSH or Taproot vaults, every UTXO an address holds with its age, exchange flows, or the hourly price at the exact period-end hour. Developer is $49 a month with one year of history; Growth at $199 adds SQL and full history back to 2009.

Good questions

Flipside vs BitcoinDatabase, answered

Flipside sold its blockchain data business to SonarX on 19 May 2026 and moved its focus to edisyl, an enterprise AI platform. SonarX took over Flipside customer contracts and renewal rights. On 2 October 2026 flipsidecrypto.xyz and its docs redirected to edisyl.com.
The blockchain data business did not shut down, it was sold to SonarX, which now serves the former Flipside customers. The Flipside website, Flipspace and docs pages redirected to edisyl.com when we checked on 2 October 2026, so the old free studio is no longer reachable at its address.
SonarX, an institutional blockchain data provider based in Irvine, California. It announced the acquisition of the Flipside blockchain data business on 19 May 2026, said it doubles its enterprise customer base, and listed 7 trillion rows of curated data and 700 million resolved wallet identities among what it gained.
Not at the old address for new users. On 2 October 2026 api.flipsidecrypto.com answered our request with a Cloudflare 403 page and the docs redirected to edisyl.com. Former API customers should go to SonarX, which assumed the contracts. SonarX documents REST for EVM chains and Solana and offers Bitcoin balances on request.
There is no Flipside price list any more. SonarX, which holds the contracts, did not publish prices on 2 October 2026; its pricing URL returned a 404 and access starts with a trial request. BitcoinDatabase publishes Developer at $49, Growth at $199 and Scale at $799 a month.
For many chains under an enterprise contract, SonarX is the direct continuation. For a free warehouse table, Google BigQuery has a public Bitcoin dataset. For Bitcoin only, with REST at the chain tip, SQL on a published monthly plan and price candles in the same database, BitcoinDatabase fits better.
Yes. BitcoinDatabase exposes blocks, transactions, inputs, outputs and price_candles tables through POST /v1/sql from the Growth plan at $199 a month. Values are decimal(16,8), exact to the satoshi, and each call returns up to 1,000 rows, so port your queries table by table and keep the joins.
Yes. Its Bitcoin chain page lists Snowflake data shares, file dumps and Kafka streaming as available today, and point-in-time Bitcoin balance tables and REST as enabled on request. Its public API reference on 2 October 2026 documented REST only for EVM chains and Solana.
No. BitcoinDatabase provides informational on-chain data and analytics only. It is not investment, financial or legal advice. Vendor facts on this page were read on 2 October 2026 and may change after that date. Flipside and SonarX are trademarks of their owners.
